Our office hours of operations are 9AM until 5PM EST. Any application received after 5pm will be counted as received the next business day. Lane/sidewalk closures must be submitted at least 3 full business days in advance and a full street closure must be submitted at least 5 full business days in advance. In order to receive a permit from city of Atlanta parks we need at least 72 hours in advance unless it’s a big production filming and the requirement is at least 15 to 30 days in advance depending on the scope of filming. If your permit is not submitted within the timely manner listed above, it will not get approved.
ALERT 1 – Sports Season (Football, Basketball, Soccer, Baseball)
We will be permitting during this time; however, please check the schedule for games to prevent street closure conflict (Atlanta Falcons, GA Tech, GA State, Atlanta United FC and events at Phillips Arena, Georgia Dome and Georgia World Congress Center ).
ALERT 2- Filming in Sensitive Neighborhoods
If you want to scout and/or film in Inman Park, Ansley Park, Brookhaven, Castleberry Hill or the West Paces Ferry/Tuxedo Road area, please call the office beforehand. Some of the neighborhoods require 5 full business days to film in their area if not longer.

**If you want to film in the Fairlie/Poplar District (US Court of Appeals) please contact the office before submitting an application.**
Filming in City of Atlanta parks: When submitting an application, please include the site plan (map) of the park, marking off the area where production wants to film. Without this document there will be no approval.
Streetcar filming: You must submit your track access form AT LEAST 10 (TEN) BUSINESS DAYS in advance of your first day of shooting. Additionally, all requests must be in by the previous Monday by 5:00 PM EST to be reviewed for the upcoming week by Atlanta Streetcar. NO EXCEPTIONS. A mandatory training is required when filming on or around streetcar, please contact Demeka Wallace at 404-546-5794 or email her at email@example.com.
ALERT 3 – STREET LIGHT REQUEST
For street light request, we require at least 48 hours in advance for city lights and 72 hours in for Georgia Power. All requests must be made through the City of Atlanta, Office of Transportation. Please contact Dionne Benton at 404.977.0964 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.

The Mayor’s Office of Film & Entertainment is the official film office for the City of Atlanta.
To support the city’s rapidly expanding film industry, the Office of Film & Entertainment streamlined the permitting process for film productions with the launch of our new online application software FilmApp Atlanta. In addition to streamlining the permitting process for film productions in the City of Atlanta, the Office of Entertainment also will be responsible for the following:
- Issuing permits to productions filming on public property in the City of Atlanta
- Facilitating communication between producers and city agencies
- Minimizing potential inconveniences to residents and local businesses affected by film production
- Partnering with the Georgia Film, Music & Digital Entertainment Office to market Atlanta as a leading center for film, culture and entertainment
NOTE: A filming permit is NOT required for filming on public property for newsgathering purposes. This means you are allowed to film rallies, protests, and demonstrations taking place on public property without obtaining a filming permit. Please see the filming ordinance to your right for more information.
The process and fees are different for student filmmakers. Please download the fee schedule to your right for more information. Students will need to provide proof of current enrollment to receive the student rates.
Before you get started, please download and review the Getting Started document to your right. You will find the necessary guidelines and helpful information for filming in the City of Atlanta. All supplementary forms you will need to continue can be found to your right as well.

PRODUCTION ELEMENTS CHECKLIST:
Filming that occurs on public property containing any of these elements will require a permit:
- Filming requiring setup of barricades, street closure, lane closure, or sidewalk closure
- Night-time filming in a residential area with the use of an outdoor light
- Use of a temporary structure that requires permitting by the Office of Buildings and/or Atlanta Fire Rescue Department
- Use of intellectual property belonging to the City
- Pyrotechnics or other explosives
- Smoke effects, water effects, or flame effects
- Display of real or artificial firearms
- Vehicle chases and/or crashes
- Dangerous stunts
- Use of any equipment that may cause damage to public property
- Use of wild animals regulated by law
- Filming in buildings that are owned by the City and not leased to a third party, or in a building of which the city is a lessee
- Use of public property that is owned or maintained by the Department of Watershed Management
- Filming in a city park
- Filming at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport or MARTA

CANCELLATION OF APPLICATIONS: There is a $200 cancellation fee for all applications that are cancelled after the approval process has begun.
CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE: We require at least a minimum of $1,000,000 of insurance for filming in the City of Atlanta on public property. The COI needs to list City of Atlanta / 55 Trinity Ave / Atlanta GA 30303 as the lien holder.
